SEPTWOLVES fashion show spring/summer 2017


The aesthetic of the Chinese Yi population is revived in a modern interpretation. Sophisticated contaminations of craftsmanship and elaborate detailing are the distinguishing feature of this young collection with a folk flavour. Septwolves, leading brand in Chinese menswear presents its SS 17 Wolftotem collection at the historic cloister of San Barnaba, in a blend of tradition and innovation. The wolf, the archetype the brand owes its name to, is joined by other protagonists of ancient Chinese animal symbolism, which provide inspiration for the wisely crafted patterns of this collection.

A black tiger, the male symbol of happiness and success according to the Yi culture, chases other ancient totems in designs which celebrate the greatness of the past with a brand new outlook, to define the sophisticated identity of a modern man. Chinese dragons, phoenixes, bamboo and fire are brought into play in the designs of t-shirts and shorts in a unique reinterpretation of the totem of fortune they compose.

High craftsmanship creates details to see and to touch, with embroidered drop and diamond shaped inserts embellishing lightweight bombers and shirts, while horn elements create sophisticated textures and shapes in a tribute to the tradition of the Yi culture and Chinese architecture.

The folk flavour evoked by hand-woven flowers and bamboo patterns on cotton and other refined textiles inherited from tradition like silk, stands out thanks to the contrast with round metal accessories and fringes. The colour palette proposed for the SS17 season is dominated by black and white combinations joined by bright shades of red and yellow.
